Crassna & Rose Otto opens with pink pepper, lychee and clove around luminous rose petals. Bulgarian rose oil, rose absolute and jasmine then meet a substantial dose of 2018 Melaka crassna oud, settling into patchouli, amber, beeswax and sandalwood.

KSI Take: Rose-and-oud without the usual polish hiding the raw materials. The flower feels vivid and dimensional; the oud brings humid wood, tea-like facets and a honeyed animalic depth.
