Bulgarian and Turkish rose open rich and jammy alongside iris and frankincense before clove, cumin and saffron push it toward something spicier and darker. Castoreum, patchouli, cedarwood, labdanum, opoponax and myrrh close it out dense, resinous and distinctly animalic.

KSI Take: This is a rose built for weight rather than prettiness, the castoreum and resins push it toward 1980s oriental territory, and anyone who wants a soft or transparent rose should stay away. Wear it in cold weather, in the evening, it has real projection and lasts, though reviewers have flagged the price as steep for a young house.
