Fleur de sel, cinnamon and pink pepper open it savoury before anything sweet arrives, Madagascan vanilla and nutmeg build the heart up rich and spiced with ylang-ylang keeping it floral at the edges, and amber, myrrh and frankincense give the base a dry resinous backbone that stops the vanilla going gourmand.

KSI Take: The salt is what makes this worth owning. It keeps a very rich vanilla from collapsing into bakery, and the myrrh does the same job from underneath. The limitation is that it is still unmistakably a vanilla, so if that note reads cloying on you no amount of salt and resin is going to fix it. Wear it in cold weather, close to the skin, in the evening.
