Frankincense, saffron, Calvados and cinnamon open warm and boozy. Rose centifolia deepens over benzoin, geranium and sandalwood drèches before vanilla, labdanum, patchouli and leather take the base into dry amber.

KSI Take: At 41 percent concentration the rose sits inside the resin and leather rather than above it, and the sandalwood drèches gives it a dry creamy weight the original eau de parfum never had. It wears slow and close for hours, which justifies the price if you want Overture heavier and sweeter, though the sharper myrrh smoke of the original is largely gone.
