Atlantic brown algae and an in house kombu tincture open cold, salty and genuinely marine rather than the usual calone blue. Amyris, styrax and nagarmotha build a storm washed woody heart, and Khazanah Malaysian oud closes it with ambergris, beeswax, vanilla, Virginia cedar and vetiver.

KSI Take: Real seaweed and a hand made kombu tincture put this in a different category from every aquatic built on synthetic sea air, and the oud underneath gives it a weight the genre almost never has. The flip side is that actual seaweed smells like actual seaweed, briny and faintly low tide for the first ten minutes, which is a lot to ask of anyone expecting a fresh fragrance. Wear it in heat.
